Decades-old affair ends Italian couple’s 77-year marriage

Divorce is becoming a more prominent issue nowadays, spanning all age groups. That’s why people around the world, not just Minnesota resident, are talking about an incredible divorce happening in Italy that involves a 99-year-old man and his 96-year-old wife.

With nearly eight decades of marriage in the rearview, a couple in Rome are filing for divorce after an affair between the wife and her secret lover in the 1940s was discovered by the 99-year-old man.

So how did it happen? The 99-year-old man was cleaning out his attic and stumbled upon letters that outlined the aforementioned affair, and when he confronted her about it, she confessed to the decades-old infidelity. Recently, the soon-to-be separated couple made it through a rough patch in their marriage that forced the man to move out of the house for a few weeks. However, this seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The husband will attain the infamous record as oldest person to ever file for divorce, with the previous record belonging to a British couple who were both 98 years old.
