A Message From Lakeville Divorce Attorney Todd Dwire

I hung up my shingle to practice family law in downtown Lakeville in June of 1998. I was a year out of law school with a cheap plastic desk, a computer and one file to my name. I couldn't have been happier.

It was a great opportunity for me to practice law in my hometown in the neighborhood I grew up in. I graduated from Lakeville High School and have lived and worked in Lakeville virtually my entire life.

Lakeville is still a relatively small Minnesota town. Accordingly, we have incorporated small-town values into my law practice. We offer an informal, friendly office environment that emphasizes personal service. We handle all types of family law cases from divorce, to child custody and visitation, to child support, to marital property division, to alimony, to paternity actions, to domestic violence and protection from abuse orders.

As a sole practitioner, I will handle your family law case personally from beginning to end.

Family Law Isn't Only About Legalities

When clients come to my law office, they are often upset and emotional. My first job as an attorney is to listen. Compassion is the foundation upon which I have built my law practice. However, I also have an obligation to help my clients rise above their emotions so they can make clear decisions that they won't regret in the future.

If you are leaning toward making a decision that I believe you will regret down the road, as your lawyer, you will hear about it from me. That may mean telling you things that you don't want to hear. At the end of the day, my clients trust me to look out for their best interests. Unfortunately, some lawyers feed into their clients' emotions and create conflict where none needs to exist − all to increase billable hours. I won't ever do that.
